ResortQuest Delaware has announced its acquisition of Seacoast Realty, making it the state’s largest beach real estate brokerage. The two companies have had a substantial impact in the area’s real estate market in the past, stretching from North Bethany to Fenwick Island, and westward, and now, into Ocean City, Md.

Seacoast Realty, a Carl M. Freeman Company, announced January’s Top Producers for all eight Seacoast Realty locations at a recent sales meeting.

Robert Kauffman received top honors for No. 1 Listing Volume for the month of January.

After a five-hour public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Fenwick Island Board of Adjustments denied five proposed variances requested by Lenape Tribe LLC that would have allowed mixed commercial and residential development, including a projected Starbuck’s with drive-through capabilities, at the corner of Dagsboro Street and Coastal Highway – the site of the former Libby’s family restaurant.

Residents of the Salt Pond community, just outside Bethany Beach, have been in the center of booming development in the area recently and are now seeking to reduce its impact on their way of life.

Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated. The redevelopment of the former Blue Surf Motel as a mixed-use condominium and retail location has not been scrapped, as has been whispered widely in the community in recent weeks. Nor has the project lost its funding, according to Realtor Lauren Alberti, who took over the listings for the Blue Surf Condominiums this week.

Rick Allamong, branch vice president of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Bethany Beach offices, has announced their top producers for December.

For the Sunrise Court office, Kathy Cramer was the top individual listing associate and Marie Jones was the top individual sales associate.

Citing a depleting general fund and a need to be proactive in budgeting, the Millville Town Council voted Tuesday night to enact a significant hike in property taxes. However, after hearing complaints from local businessmen, the council voted to cut out a part of the proposed ordinance that called for a new 5 percent rental tax.

The Sussex County Board of Adjustments on Feb. 5 unanimously denied the application by Anthony Crivella for a special-use exception to allow a billboard on his property adjacent to Route 54 and the Little Assawoman Bay.

When asked, only two people raised their hands Thursday night in support. Some 33 people then confirmed their opposition to the plan to subdivide 742 acres into 1,060 lots off of Camp Barnes and Double Bridges roads, near the Assawoman Wildlife Refuge, for a proposed development called The Estuary.

Bethany Beach officials are scrutinizing the issue of so-called “disorderly” houses, looking at both problems with noise and concerns about overcrowding in the resort town’s rental homes.

On Cedar Drive in Ocean View behind Lord Baltimore Elementary School, there is a two-story home for sale with central water and sewer. The flyer for the home’s listing reads “Limited Offer Buy this Home, Get a Buick LaCrosse at Settlement.”
