Fenwick Island BoA votes no on proposed Lenape project
After a five-hour public hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Fenwick Island Board of Adjustments denied five proposed variances requested by Lenape Tribe LLC that would have allowed mixed commercial and residential development, including a projected Starbuck’s with drive-through capabilities, at the corner of Dagsboro Street and Coastal Highway – the site of the former Libby’s family restaurant.

President's Day weekend big for Blue Surf

Millville institutes property tax hike
Citing a depleting general fund and a need to be proactive in budgeting, the Millville Town Council voted Tuesday night to enact a significant hike in property taxes. However, after hearing complaints from local businessmen, the council voted to cut out a part of the proposed ordinance that called for a new 5 percent rental tax.
Breaking news: Billboard request denied
The Sussex County Board of Adjustments on Feb. 5 unanimously denied the application by Anthony Crivella for a special-use exception to allow a billboard on his property adjacent to Route 54 and the Little Assawoman Bay.
Commissioners wait on Estuary decision
When asked, only two people raised their hands Thursday night in support. Some 33 people then confirmed their opposition to the plan to subdivide 742 acres into 1,060 lots off of Camp Barnes and Double Bridges roads, near the Assawoman Wildlife Refuge, for a proposed development called The Estuary.
