Editor:
It is a sad day in Ocean View, thanks to the decision made by the town council on Sept. 16 to break the contract of the police chief and force him to report to the town manager instead of the mayor.

Thanks to the wonderful community!

My family and I wish to express our thanks for all the cards, calls, food and other expressions of sympathy during the illness and passing of Ed Lowe.
The support and concern shown by so many people in this community we live in truly helped carry us through this time period, and the time to come.

Resident puts his belief in Markell’s campaign
Editor:
Jack Markell’s “A Blueprint for a Better Delaware” is remarkable. For the first time, Delawareans get a hard copy of an outlined, step-by-step plan of how a candidate promises to bring change. And he is a candidate whose abilities have already been tested.
Letters to the Editor -- June 20, 2008
Birkmeyer believes council at fault in town
Editor:
I must take umbrage with the editorial in the June 13 issue of the Coastal Point. You say the government is designed so that the people can have their say on issues. This is not true in Ocean View.

The Artisans Fair sponsored by the South Coastal Delaware AARP Chapter was a huge success, thanks to the support of many in our community. This was a new venture for our chapter, so we were charting unproven ground. Our goal was to raise funds for our newly created Scholarship Fund for Indian River High School seniors.

Oil, taxes are the roots of economic woes
Editor:
As should be apparent to all our elected servants, the cost of oil is dictating the economy. As a result, where the citizenship might not have complained as vociferously as they should have over illegal taxes in the past, it is no longer simply a matter of no other form of taxation currently available.

White offers rebuttal to councilman’s letter
Editor’s Note: It is our policy to prohibit letters regarding elections from running the week of voting. The purpose behind that policy is to allow candidates one last opportunity to dispute any letters from that previous issue.

Esposito gets support for mayoral seat
Editor:
We would like to endorse and throw our whole-hearted support behind the candidacy of Vinnie Esposito for mayor of Ocean View. Vinnie has years of experience as a legislator in New Jersey politics. He is an honest broker and a straight-shooter who can mediate and negotiate compromises with a sometimes-fractious town council.
Letters - March 21, 2008
Readers: Regulate propane dealers
Editor:
We have subscribed to propane services from Suburban Propane over the past 10 years that we have lived in this area. Over the years, the cost of propane has escalated disproportionately with other costs, such as gasoline, oil and other fuel services.
