George William Davis Jr., 66, of Millsboro, Del., formerly of Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. He was a veteran of Korea, serving in the United States Army. He worked for Conrail-Norfolk Southern for 30 years as a railroad policeman before retiring in 2006. He was an active member of St. George’s Chapel Church in Harbeson, where he started a men’s group.
Davis is survived by his loving wife, Gale Davis; eight children, George William Davis III, Russell Davis, Scott Davis, Christopher Meyers, Kathleen Clemens, Lisa Frey, Frazier Lay and Scott Lay; and 18 grandchildren.
A memorial service was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008. Interment was private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or to St. George’s Chapel, 20322 Beaver Dame Rd., Harbeson, DE 19951.
